Poem -

My New Age Of Innocence

My New Age Of Innocence

If all the world and butterflies were young
And a thousand fragrant fireflies
Lit, the undercurrents of Love
Then, my new age of innocence would have begun
And candlelight would imbue every ballroom
With the pinkish color of Paris at night
"La Vie En Rose" would be on every radio
And Venus would be in the afterglow
Of every young mans romantic evening
Keeping every young girls heart happily beating
Where visions of fur lined slippers for the cold
Would be given freely and never sold
A honey tongue and a heart of gold
Would be all that was ever needed
In this,
My newly imagined Age Of Innocence...

Beautifully flavored vision of your dream. I loved Paris and through your rose colored glasses the poets still attend their sidewalk cafes and bespeckled painters still squint and argue over the light on the Seine.
i will carry this picture for a while

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,

We are back in the yesteryears, of dear Gay Paree`
In the pureness of candlelight, kissing are we
With this "New Age Of Innocence", our hearts and Souls bond
As we float in such beauty, to the stars far beyond

Love and Rockets,
Larry xxx

P.S.  The illustration you used for this poem, intrigues me.  My fine-tuned eye for art is vacillating between it being a painting done in that period, or an anachronistic one, done later in the 20th Century.  Could you please let me know the artist?

Hi Tony,

Now that you've told me that the illustration is of the period, it is possibly a work by the well-known French artist, Gaston Latouche.
So glad you enjoyed my verse.
Next time send me Queens.  Then, I won't have to worry about being checkmated.

Love you Bro,
Larry xxx
