My Scars

My scars,
Taught me life lessons,
Constant reminders,
To be grateful for blessings.

Each a lingering memory,
Of the wounds I've acquired,
Permanent marks,
Evidence of pain transpired.

A scar,
The final sign,
That the pain endured,
Is now far behind.

But wounds,
They come in all forms,
Time heals them all...
Well...
I must have been misinformed.

Sometimes we get cut so deep
We never heal,
It's own form of torture,
When you can't change how you feel.

The worst pain,
A heart filled with regret,
It's a wound that can only be healed,
If you try and forget.
