My three granddaughters?

My three granddaughters?

I was sitting with my granddaughters the other day
My smallest one turned to me & she did say
“Grandma please can you tell me, when you were only three did you play like me?”
“Did you like ‘Peppa Pig’ on your tv?”

“No Maisie, I couldn’t watch tv, there wasn’t such a thing as ‘Peppa Pig for me & there wasn’t a tv either you see”

Then my middle granddaughter Emily said
“Well Mama, my Mam & Dad like to use social media on their ipad,”
“What age did you have one? I bet it was the latest fad”?

“Oh Emily I never had an Ipad, there wasn’t such a thing”
She turned & said
“Huh it must have been boring”

Lauren my eldest granddaughter’s turn:
“Surely” said she as assertive as can be
“Grandma what did you do allday, what kind of things did you have to play?”

“You see children” I said to all three
“ Our days were different for us back then,
We didn’t have your modern technology
But don’t get me wrong coz we were as happy as can be”

I told them “I didn’t need as many different toys,
We used to play outside with the other girls & boys,
We made stilts from string & a ‘heinz’ bean tin & we had paper & pen so I loved to colour in
So you see little ones I was the same as you,
I had lots to do to keep me from being blue”!!!
Yes things were different back in my day but we were used with what we had, so we liked it that way
