Nana (a poem)

I used to have skin
Smoother than the
Marble Julius Caesar
In my High Schools
Library.
And me and the girls
Used to run until we
Saw sunrise to sunrise,
Until one hill became two mountains.
My hair bounced as I walked.
And the boys eyes couldn’t help but lift,Â
Like paper in the wind, when
I strutted past.
And now I have gorges in my
Cheeks, deep enough that when
I cry, I create rivers and lakes.
And even in my aging days,
The days where the house is not
The one that creaks but I,
There is still beauty to be seen.
