Nature's Beauty and The Face Of God

{a re-write: for Ralph Waldo Emerson}
When we think of nature we have a distinct, almost poetical sense in mind
We mean the integrity of impression, made by the natural objects we find
It distinguishes the slice of timber of the woodcutter, from the tree of the poet
This God given ability to interpret beauty, to hold it, caress it, and then show it,
Glows...
"Nature never wears a mean appearance, nor does the wisest man extort all her secrets"...
We also never seem to lose curiosity in discovering all of her perfections
The butterfly, the animals, the rivers, all lead to lotic reflections
So when we speak of nature, we all seem to share such synchronous impressions...
Truthfully speaking, few of us actually SEE nature, most don't really notice the sun
The sun only illuminates the eye of a man but shines brightly in the heart of a child, just begun
The lover of nature, is he who has retained the spirit of our infancy
When everything seemed so new to us, we rolled and frolicked in its mystery...
I have enjoyed a divine exhilaration, I am almost afraid to show how glad I am
For in the quiet of my illness, I have lost social encounters, but come to understand
That when I look at nature, I am not only perceiving beauty, I see that I'm a fraud
Thinking I am a poet or "true" perceiver, when actually I'm translating the face of God...

'when actually I'm translating the face of God...' well said, brother of all poets, if one supposes that God made the forest (nature) then a part of Him is mirrored in 'nature', maybe as a parent is seen, if you look hard enough, into the eyes of their children...lots to ponder with this one T, when I read these lines
'That when I look at nature, I am not only perceiving beauty, I see that I'm a fraud...'
I began thinking about how overwhelming the experience can be, being in nature with all the colors and sounds feeding the senses...triggering you to burst into song; if you sing, or dance; if you dance or poetry, art...it is more powerful than any mortal, this presence that moves or inspires....great point about the 'sun' as well, some don't appreciate it, or give it much value unless it's raining, lol and you want to play...
'The sun only illuminates the eye of a man but shines brightly in the heart of a child, just begun'
Great write, so much depth T.... a true poet can never run short of inspiration when in nature....lucky you, out there in NC, lol, we the north are currently freezing our arses off, just saying... missing summer....cheers pal, enjoy you deserve, hugs
