NATURE'S FURY

NATURE'S FURY
The soft musical,
sound of the stream,
water softly dancing,
to its tune flowing merrily,
between stones and boulders.
Surrounded by hills,
flowers and trees,
in the distance snow capped mountains,
a beautiful sight all day long,
was our abode. Living alongside,the
Mightiest of God's, protection granted,
we always thought.
Sound of thunder,
flashes of lightening,
sheets of rain,
never heard or seen before.
The musical tones of the streamĀ
so accustomed to ears,
drowned by the howling,
sound of the wind.
The crystal clear stream,
was now a raging body
of water, mud and boulders,
sweeping all that in it's path.
The ferocity and intensity,
thudding and battering of
rolling down boulders,
trembling of the floor,
was a realization too late,
folly of greed , disregard to nature,
fear in our eyes said it all.Ā
Huddled together in one room,
with flame of lamp the only light,
shadows on our face ,
playing a frightful dance, not a word
being exchanged, just staring at each
other was what we could muster.
Nature's fury knows no abode,
respect it, remains your friend.
Destroy it, devastates you.
Hills or plains, it does not distinguish.
The last flicker of the lamp
with it descends complete darkness,
no second chance,
to ask nature's forgiveness.
