"NDE"

Illness must have hit me hard, I began to drift away!
So shocked! looking back down where my body still lay!
I hear everyone talking, but they don't seem to hear me!
My vision detects all around at once, as I float free!
Now gaining speed, I lift and pass through a solid ceiling!
Being so very vivid! am sure I'm not dreaming!
Rising above the city, I am turned to see my fate!
Entering some kind of portal, without an entry gate.
Now faster than the speed of light! without feeling pain!
Movement seems to disperse, the moment I feel insane!
Seems I'm in the arms of some being I can only feel,
Pure white light I'm approaching; is palpable love for real!
The light envelopes me; and answers all my questions!
I should return to my body; one of many suggestions,
Was informed my mission is waiting; and wasn't complete,
Many spirits to bring with me, their waiting love replete!
The joy that I felt here; was more than I could comprehend!
Long past family; all around! The Glory! my best Friend!
The light gave me choice, thought my way back towards earth!
Passing galaxies, planets! holding on to all I'm worth!
Could see my body, after sentinels parted a veil!
Slamming into a shell! that was all deathly and pale!
The jolt was sorely painful! as the paddles they removed!
Told them all what they'd been saying! my journey then was proved!
Heart had stopped before the hospital! so I'd been long dead!
Defibrillator brought me back, bouncing me off the bed!
Later seeing a shocked expression! etched on my wife's face!
After describing; detailed! my journey through outer space!
Because my drawing, were galaxies deep field displayed,
She witnessed; long before the Hubble telescope ; was made!

Jim you take us to places never travelled and literally breathtakingly so.
A fantastic soulful write displaying a journey to that pain-free better place.
Loved it! From one angle a poem of warm welcoming light devoid of that fear of the unknown and also a poem of hope of the inevitable for commoner and king.
Loved you poem's closing ethereal spark also, a conclusion as if from from the X Files.
Thank you Jim for writing something celestial and something everyone can take perhaps solace from, that something spiritual.

honored JP!
Fascinating out of body experience, creatively expressed.Β Being in the medical field, I am curious if this really happened as it does to some. None of my business, but in any case fascinating poem.Β Β
Hi I love this poem of celestial beauty, infinite grace, and the after life. I had an out of body experience once, and it was just as you describe... I saw myself and yet i was myself... and i went through a tunnel and popped out the other side in a strange land Β with mist and fog and i spoke to beings that loved me and told me it was time to wake up so i had to go back... loved your write.

cool story Raeleen! thanks bunches for reading and commenting! perhaps you could put it in a poem! most of my poems are from experience, this one is an exception, though I did have a heart attack and have died a couple of times, I only experienced part of this and listened to the experiences of others to complete. all the best to you Raeleen!
Quite simply both breath-taking and otherwise amazing mate .. Oh' and just between the two of us, I've had two NDE's to date .. N :)

honored Neville! I hope to hear about them!
Hi Jim...I am fascinated with this subject in recent years and read every book I can find and all the online accounts. I sit on the fence as I've never had one but your work describes what appears to be a universal experience for those who have had them. I am currently reading Dr Penny Santori who has published several books...she started becoming interested after her observations as a nurse working in ITU in the hospital I regularly work in!!! She teaches the subject now in a local uni. Great thought provoking read x
honored Marion! I truly hope you find what you seek!
