Never look back

Never look back

She bites her bitten nails, he fidgets his bare feet
There’s a siren with blue lights flashing as they stand in the heat,
getting scorched by the flames that are rising from the roof and the wooden framed timbers that are not fireproof

Luckliy the lady opposite the lane rang 999 when she looked at the fire from her windowpane
She knew it was the house at number thirty four, there was a young couple had moved into it maybe’s a month ago or a few days more

“Poor little souls” she said out loud as she watched the fire engine and the gathering crowd
It was on the crack of dawn when they heard the huge explosion
There had to be leaking gas that had caused this commotion

Well the emergency service hung around for the day after the house was no more and all the flames were away
But at the end of it all the newly weds were alright tho they had to go to the local hospital to get checked out overnight

The neighbours rallied around and mind you they were very good with donations of provisions and a months supply of food
Now that was a year ago and the couple with a baby on the way never look back to that horrendous day
After living with the in-laws for a month or two a council house became vacant out of the blue

So the semi at number sixty three, St. Andrews estate with a super double garage and the white wooden gate was the young couple’s cherished new home when their baby came late
She is beautiful and the apple of Daddies eyes as he nurses her tenderly singing sweet lullabies

Being Me

Thank heaven this has a happy ending!  It is fabulous how a community rallies round in times of need. It restores my faith in humankind...a bit, anyway x
