New Years Resolutions ?

Some of us always make them
Though we usually never succeed
To fullfill our resolutions 
Yet we wish we could indeed

We set ourselves a tall order
Impossible to achieve
But we know our desires
So we want to believe

It is the same ritual every New year
We are full of good intention
Setting our goals for ourselves
Far too many to mention

The most popular one I think
Is go on a detox, no alcohol drink
So we go on a crash diet
Putting our health on the blink

January the first is perfect
A new beginning, an ideal start
So we set ourselves a target
Which we hold within our heart

But for some unknown reason
Our aim may not be carried out
We let it fall by the wayside
What is that all about ?

I should know as I am guilty
This is something that I do
I have the utmost intentions
Yet never carry them through

Full of optimisim & positivity
I am like a ‘man on a mission’
But I get idle & lazy
loosing all my sense of vision

If only I had more willpower
Then I’d be as fit as a fiddle
I am as fickle as a flower 
Really its all a load of dribble

So this New year I have decided
Not to waste my time making one
Though there could be endless benifits
If my resolutions could be done
