Nico 9/11

On that terrible day so long ago, you were just a month and half old;
But four plus weeks later your whole life would change, to us, your breeder, “you” sold!
For Mommy was sad from all those who’d died, and decided she needed a pup;
To be at her side while Daddy was gone, and keep her spirits raised up!

So that’s how it happened you came into our lives, and filled them with oceans of joy;
The most beautiful face and a heart that it matched, this was our dear Nico boy!
I came back from the road some weeks after that, and you I finally would meet;
I walked in the door and you jumped in my arms, you knocked me right off of my feet!

This day that I met you I fell right in love, as I knew you did with me;
I knew that forever you’d be at my side, and together we always would be!
For thirteen plus years you made my heart sing, you kindled my passions so true;
The only sad days were when I had leave, and could not them then spend with you!

But now seven months since you had to leave, each day my heart sheds such vast tears;
It happened so sudden, in a flash you were gone, I thought we had many more years!
So now this 9-11, this terrible day, the first I must be without you;
The light of my life the mate of my soul, my Nico, I’ll always love you!
