Nigh Eve

Nigh Eve

you want me
to be a girl .
throw all away that I have learned,
from others..
as if, untouched by the trappings
and set backs of life,
You want me to descend into,
that innocence I found,.
in childhood books..
eating junket in the garden ..watching a feather float from The Gods,
climbing trees for apples
that are still green,
You want me to forget
where I have been,
and for one moment I can..
pretend I am that girl..
I can, when will you stop
pretending you are a man..?
