Nights Like Tonight

Nights Like Tonight

I thank the heavens for nights like tonight
for taking the sadness that forever lays on my shoulders
and easing the pain
just enough for me to feel alive and free.
To enjoy life the way teenagers should,
with good friends, good music, and amazing memories.

With the music pumping through my bones,
I look over and only see amazing people with amazing hearts,
and I can't help but smile to myself
and think about what I could have possibly done to deserve such happiness.

Even if I know this is only temporary,
I can finally accept a little bit of this heaven on earth,
and honestly tell myself,
"I am so proud of what you've become."

It is tragic that so often we write the best pieces from a place of pain. It is refreshing to see a great piece written about a time of joy. I especially love your use of contrast.

I don't think you understand how much your compliments mean to me! But I definitely agree that its heart-breaking the way only sadness normally brings out the best in people when it comes to writing..
