Nixon's Day

~NIXON'S DAY

Worry and fear.
A dark cloud swirling.
Blackness coming to meet me.
 Another sad day.
Crazy dream.
Carry the package.
"Do us a deed on Nixon's Day."
The Irish leader
sick and frail.
"Come closer lad.
Give us an ear.
Go to the church and raise your hand.
When they call give it all."
I give it all.
My wife says "No."
but I give it all.
On the bus
my package and I.
Nixon's riding with them all.
Little ones and Grannys
waiting the call.
I leave Nixon, my package ready.
The day has come.
The deed is done.
Smiling faces.
Melting screams.
Nixon's done.
He was the one.
Worry and fear
they return.
To haunt me for another day.
Dark cloud reaching down.
Its going to blow us all away.
