no time nor absence.

She sat alone often,
Eating her lunch in the shade,
Of an old Oak tree,
Thinking about her past love,
Upon a milk carton his face,
you see,
He went to war,
Then vanished without a trace,
The only remaining memories,
Clutched within her purse,
Simple love notes,
Sensation within every verse,
As she stared into the distance,
A frail smile upon her ,
once young face,
She remembered clearly,
When he quoted amazing grace ,
Softly she started humming,
to that very tune ,
Maybe he was lost in deploy,
Abandoned by platoon ,
I shall never know,
Nor ever shall forget,
This love i have still strong,
Within it no regret,
As she opened her Baguette,
Within it placed some cheese,
She thought fondly of him,
Her very soul at ease,
He made a promise to her,
Down on baring knees,
Underneath,
the green Oak leaves ,
many years ago ,
That he would come back,
and recite his love one day,
As hours went by ,
And the breeze began to chill,
She knew he loved her,
And she loved him still,
But today is not the day,
As sunlight slowly sinks,
She packs her things,
and carries them on her way,
reciting his very words,
"I may return tomorrow,
for its another day,
no time nor absence,
could keep my love away".
