Nostalgia: The Infamous Poker Game

I'm clutch. If you ask me what I got, nothin much is my reply. Hopeless romantic. You know why. Calmer than after the Treaty of Versailles. But my soul is busy. Still searching, getting dizzy. In my feelings like drizzy. Til that Worst Behavior hit meΒ
On to the get down. Never let em see you frown. If they got to ya, just smile and throw ya dice to the ground. Steady gambling on life. Trying to play my cards right. The old man stood strong in that infamous Poker Game heist. Yeah, that's something my father taught me and never knew it. Staring at the portrait as he explained how they were gonna do it. He called em ole sports. Real sneaky, slick. Two headed snake was what I thought of it. He focused on the scoundrels, while I focused on the old man. He was so unbothered, I always wondered about his card hand. And at that very moment I believe I chose my own fate. I'll be an honest person. Ain gotta do as you say...nah, not if it ain't my Father's Way. Because a father would never tell his baby girl to lie to cover up her own mistakes. Barely over six, and had to search for the path of righteousness on my own. Life got to ya pops. Your morals and values were gone. But I love you anyway. Didn't care if you were a rolling stone. I made this big move, and it's crazy cuz all I can think of is your home.Β
That brick yellow house, and those fields stretching far out. The well that me and Greedy have to run and turn off. The pond that was almost dried up. Still caught a fish, just our luck. Summer friends on the summer vaca were more hands for you in your field. Pickin field peas, greens, corn, and peppers, and making char char for our meals. I can go on and on about hustling at the Farmer's Market, but I stop reminisce on the smells, the picture wall, and the weird colors of your carpet. I was taught plenty lessons, even when you taught them wrong. I was blessed with many blessings. Can't sing but still I sing along.Β
