Poem -
Not Wanting to be Famous
not everyone likes the limelight .. but please dont try this at home ..
Wanting to be big, to be better,
or best, to be noticed,
looked up to, respected, revered ..
Indeed, to be famous,
is not at all, what he wanted ..
On the contrary, it was something,
he rather detested,
despised and he feared ..
After all said and done, he cared
nothing for attention ..
For the most part, he preferred
to beΒ left on his own ..
And in a moment of anguish,
he went on to prove it, by kicking away
that very same plinth
they all seemed determined
to hang him on ..
So when no one was looking, he made
one final statement
and he died there beneath it,
all alone and unnoticed, the very next day ..

I agree with GREG!!....you ARE famous in here!! (smiles).....this is a VERY powerful piece my friend....and definitely deserves to have the light shining on it......and you have done a great job bringing in the big overhead lamps!!....with fantastic use of the word "plinth" to stand the hole thing on!! (more smiles)......great choice of subject matter.......when I was young I was definitely on the fast track to the "Glitz" & "Glamour"Β and I thank the Gods today for having allowed me to fall back to earth without too many injured organs or limbs......however the residual effects still linger with me to this day.....an ugly business Fame!!.......ALL STARS & PINNED!!......Excellent work dear poet brother!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......T xoΒ :Β )
