Ocean Blue

It creates the illusion of having tremendous elasticity

And like a giant apron

Wrapped tightly around the waist of the ocean blue

The endless shoreline is captivating

As it stretches many miles

For as far as the eye can see

Standing alone

Out in front of these commanding waters

The white caps bloom with the birth of each new wave

Spread like cool whip across the top of an icy blue mountain

The ambiance is hypnotic

And as we lock eyes and form an instant connection

We become one inside of our own separate universe

The rolling water belches out loud with a low rumble

And as if being flushed into the oceanfront

It temporarily ascends gracefully upon the vanishing white sands

Then slowly recedes

Like an uninvited guest being escorted back to sea

The texture of salt water

Shares the air with the impassioned squawks of uptight seagulls

Impatiently gliding overhead in widening circles

It delivers a steely eyed glare that penetrates the surface

As it stalks with determination from high in the distance

In search of its next prey from the ocean’s buffet

There is an impeccable blend to all things here

Neatly tucked inside a beautifully gift wrapped box

It uses the perfect pastels to accentuate its flawless imagery

And effortlessly it draws me in

This place allows me to lose myself in its vastness

It’s the one place in which I know I’ll always have a friend

The ocean

The one with whom I confide in

The one with whom I share my biggest secrets

And relay my most profound thoughts to

Best of all

The ocean has never once judged me

All it does is listen
