ODE TO JULY

You bore fruit once
Do you remember?
Once, when that high up sun
shone orange
Warmed up
Those summer walls

Once,
When those young mams
Gossiped futures
Sweet faced toddlers
Ran with balls
Do you remember?

All those bellies swelled with
Things to come
Once...you gifted me
With a boy..a son...
You bore fruit once July
Do you remember?

All those years we marked
On the one and five
All those years ticked off with
Alive, so alive...

We bore fruit once July,
Do you remember?
