Covered
Beauty
With well bound
Forests
In exploration's
Doorways.
A path through the trees
Of hewn
Pages,
Through
History's nooks.
Forgotten,
For Wikipedia
And online
Books.
The Britannica
Did sail
The seas
Of knowledgeable
Men
And women that flew
The skies
Before
Recorded time
Began.
Dinosaurs trample
Its halls
And glossaries,
It graced
The tables and desks
Of presidents
And kings,
It was quite simply
The original histories.
This is my ode
To
The encyclopedia...
The best of the best
Sold
Door to door
Well before
Words like
Matutinal
Had any respect.
Today
It is remembered
By youth
With dusty
Neglect
But I recall it
As
A window
Into time
A most beautiful
Truth
To be held
To
The highest...
