~ ODE TO THE ENCYCLOPEDIA ~
Covered
Beauty
With well bound
Forests
In explorations
Doorways,
A path through the trees
Of hewn
Pages
Through histories
Nooks,
Forgotten
For Wikipedia
And online
Books,
The Britannica
Did sail
The seas
Of knowledgeable
Men
And women that flew
The skies
Before
Recorded time
Began,
Dinosaurs trampled
Its halls
With glossaries
That graced
The tables and desks
Of Kings
And Saints,
It was quite simply
The original
Grand
Compilation.....
The best of the best
Sold
Door-to-door
Well before
Words
Like 'Matutinal'
Had any respect,
Today
It is remembered
By youth
With a dusty
Neglect,
But I recall it
As
A window
Into time,
The original
Internet
To be held
On high....

Great write Tony. I can remember when an encyclopedia salesman came to the door back in the 60’s and sold my parents a full set. Used it often growing up for school. Yup those days are long gone!
