Oh I do love to be beside the seaside...

One early morning late spring
On a bright, beautiful sunny day
I took a picnic with a blanket
Children ran ahead, they knew the way

My kids were  so excited
They ran barefoot on the sand
Our Maisie was a toddler
So she kept hold of my hand

As they skipped to find a sandy patch
Not too far from the sea
Hundreds of chirping crickets
Sounded as noisy as can be

Multi coloured butterflys fluttered overhead
Squawking sea gulls swooped from heights
To fish on the sea bed

Many majestic sand castles
We mastered that day
The beach was full of familes
All making the most of their stay

We ran down to the water edge
Jumping over every wave
My eldest two girls swam passed me
They were so very brave

Sizzling sun excelled itself
For us that lovely day
I had layered factor fifty sun cream on
So we were all okay

After our tea
We packed everything away
Hand-crafted castles & motes
Was the remainder of our play
