OLD MAN IS SOON FORGOTTEN
This old man is soon forgottenÂ
Down and out and down troddenÂ
He went to war so what you sayÂ
Can't be bothered with him today
This old man is soon forgottenÂ
Treated like he is diseased and rotten
All this man wants for you to hear
Are the things that he holds so very dear
This old man is soon forgottenÂ
Clothes are worn once were cottonÂ
He could do with some food and a bed
I won't forget you old man let it be said

War veterans are usually well looked after in the West, IMHO, but the old man you write might be a special case of local government's neglect?
Awsome write Kieran that brings up something for me. I have noticed that returning war vets in America seem to end up on the streets or in low-income work. Why is this the case? Shouldn't they receive compensation from the government or a pension if they are unable to work?? They protected their country after all... it seems very appalling to me, seems that the only ones that get mentioned are the surviving "heroes"... Please enlighten me, Kieran. Kind regards
