Old Photographs

Old Photographs

Today was my grandmother’s birthday

She took out her golden bejeweled box

Full of her treasures.

Her moist burgundy colored lipstick

Which was given to her by my grandfather.

Her necklace,

Which was given to her before they got married.

And an old photograph of my grandfather and grandmother.

They look happy

Through the stained, old, dog eared photograph.

I can only see the photo

But she cannot forget the day.

Her day, filled with laughter

The picture comes to live for her.

It captured their likeness,

Their memories, were knotted in that photograph.

The photograph is a bridge for her through this treacherous abyss,

Into Her world.

Which she found in her golden bejeweled box

Full of her treasures.
