Poem -

OLD SWANSEA

It stretches in darkness to the
lights of old Swansea
There are treadmills to go on
the prom there beneath me
Just the right flavour of sandy
salt sweet
There are treadmills to go for
these tired old feet

The lamps cast their light in a
ballet of shadows
The sea bellows welcome
from briny foam shallows
Well troden flavours of home
flood my brain
My feet tread sand castles of
life's loss and gain

There are treadmills to go to
the lights of old Swansea
My feet walk in step with the
memories beside me
The steelwork's dank clouds
drive the wind in my wake
Yet my lungs fill with jewels,
all mine, here to take

I walk in the prisms to the
lights of old Swansea
Time and life skip in the
shadows beside me
The wind whips my hair, lifts
white foam to the street
There are treadmills to go for
these tired old feet

A Lonely Journey

Hi Marionette!
Man, you're a great writer!
I am never on here anymore, but I used to know you. Do you remember me? The dork who writes awful poems, and some chicken things? lol.
I miss you! Wonderful writing, as always!

Matthew...gesundheit.

Marion this is so brilliant. I honestly think that it is the best thing that I have read on these pages.
An image of Swansea that Dylan Thomas would be proud of.
Your awestruck admirer

Being Me

You know, Marion, this is a romantic write. You've nailed it with the repetition of the words

to the
lights of old Swansea

This poem really does have such a romantic feel about it.  Nostalgic and romantic. Beautiful writing. You deserve all the praise you get! 👏👏👏👏 x

Hoping to see what the old Swansea is like as I visited the place long time ago - not much memory left as being too old :)

Hi Yiyan I think Swansea wouldn't hold much appeal for anyone who wasnt born there lol...it's just a smokey little old town...nothing special...thankyou x
