Poem -

Older is all we are

Older is all we are

sunny days is all i see

tender age of just thirteen

all of the collective debt has not been out to get me yet

changes start all around

I soon begin to hear the sound

puberty, tests, and prep for college

all begin to test my knowledge

once best friends but now just words

hanging on like dying birds

now sixteen, no happiness bares

first place in a science fair

all felt love just goes to books

cant waste time with other hearts

perfect test scores is just the start

now eighteen at graduation

looking at the happy migration

a speech that really ties it all

wishing luck to ones next fall

once sunny days have now gone away

more serious gloom and gray awaits

all sacrifice to get to this day

have now begun to take its shape

family and friends are now just papers

reaching deadlines to secure the future

looking at all that was left behind

now are confronting my mind

denial and self pity are now the luck

I guess this is growing up

Blasting nonsensical

Feeding on itself

It's gotten way too...
