The desire of an athlete is really cool
Using every sinew  in persuit of glory
Wanting to be part of an Olympic story 

The dedication and commitment is on show
Movements can be fast and sometimes slow
All combine in the hope of an amazing prize
As pundits in a studio summarise and analyse 

So many stories written in the Olympics so far
Athletes in whatever sport try to raise the bar
Medals are great but it's about taking part
The Olympic Games has captured my heart
