On God

A door opens up to the heavens,
It closes just as you reach it,
Affording you your endevours,
God looks down from above and up from the pit,
Staring into the abyss you decide,
Two worlds, good and evil both collide,
In a starstruck lightning bolt moment,
I am awoken and this precious day I own it,
I reach up above and I reach far below,
He is both in the depths and in the shallow,
Because there is good even in the darkness,
No matter how well you try to mask it,
I can see through your madness,
Beyond even your deepest sadness,
We bleed the same in multicoloured stains,
Tearing through life with a mechanical pain,
An ultraviolence that dominates this plane,
The metaphysical realm of lost saints,
A world away from any truth,
A kind of sharpening of minds uncouth,
I let the rain wash my sins away,
Praying for some kind of better day,
Looking up and looking down,
I feel his presence all around.
His world domination is the only respite,
My empty heartless mind can have tonight.
