I sat engaged, in guessing

With the sobering lies

And the pain, in knowing that I've lost
The best friend,
I've ever had,
As though the thirsty earth herself
Had sucked up any hope
Of ever watering, the seeds,
Or the roots of happiness,
Which I had so carefully,
So proudly, planted
And yet,
I would concede
The selfish fact
That every church
Appalls me,
But the spirituality
That is you,
Makes me
A stronger man
And, my death
The living proof
That Love itself,
Never, ever,
Truly,
Ends...
