Once

Once

Once.
They were
here.
Came before.
Smiles, tears,
laughter.
Echos
faint echos
throughout.
Wafting
in time
and space.
Once was,
their sounds
never die.
Still here,
mellowed
filling
quintessence.
Salty soil.
Seasoned
earth.
Spirited
clouds.
Essence enfolded
in what is.
All reflected
within.
Within all.
All that
were
still are.
Souls
of this
realm.
Squeeze
the soil.
Look within.
Listen
hard.
They’re
 here,
still here.
Always
will be.

Thank you Tony,
Kind words.
Yes WWI. I’ve always been fascinated
with old pictures, looking into their faces wondering about their brief flash
of existence.

I know what you mean JP!!.....I've seen so many films, documentaries, and spoken to many people who have survived both world wars......have you seen "1917" yet?......or any of the documentaries done by KEN BURNS?.....his stuff is spectacularly good......even though his stuff is pretty much focused on the United States!!....He's done some stuff on Napoleon and a few outside of the American Point Of View!! (which is ALWAYS a little skewed)......anyway, just curious!!......TTYL.....smiles.....T xo  : )

Hi Tony,

Yes I have. The human story, existence in general fascinates.
Creation... lots to write about.

Safe journeys

Oooh I really got into this one John, I felt like it was whispered. The language and phrasing g you chose made for extremely engaging and clever poetry. What a tribute my friend! Kudos
