One Day

One Day

Watching the mother with her child
Seems depressing to me
She may be well & happy
But I see what they don’t see

She’s the helium balloon
trying to escape & be free
But the sticky fingers latched on
& stopped her being what she wanted to be

She could be travelling
She should be on the beach
The ballon represents her
& her desire to be free

Failed relationships
Beer breath, empty promises
Led her easily up to this
She was born with purpose
Kissed many toads, but never found a prince

Maybe that’s what she needs
Maybe it’s definitely not
She doesn’t need to latch on to a man
For all the reasons that she’s not

One day you’ll be free my love
Death can promise you this
A free spirit in life
Will stay the same much after this

Escape offers more than bliss
Don’t look back on your performances
Write notes from the heart, you’re pouring this
Whenever the night time boredom hits.
