One Day

I took your hand
And drew you close to me,
I felt what others watched
Play out, what was meant to be,
The sun screamed loud it's goodbyes
Through bright rays we looked without shielding our eyes.
I turned your body round to study you
Perhaps steal one last deadly kiss,
Whatever survives this
I know we'll be surely missed,
I heard a million cries
Echo from around the globe still they never shielded their eyes.
How important all around
Everyone found a role to play,
I regret to say
No one will remember that day,
It may come to some as a surprise
But no hands covered faces to shield the eyes.
Approaching end I drew you ever so close to me,
One bad day,
I'm more than happy
We watch faces in flames, love lives on eternally
So the human race dies
Still the lids never shut to shield the eyes.
One day....
One day....
Can maybe be a tomorrow......

Devon! I enjoyed this well written presentation on the last day of human existence. This last day was experience with a sane and accepting calmness. Eyes open, wrapped in the arms of the one you love…preserving that love into the flames and eternity. Beautiful write!
