One for Arthur

Dismal day at Aintree,, though the going was good..
I'd reached halfway, somewhere passed beachers brook
Arthur hadn't halted..
he made his own starters
and bolted

I caught my friend
with his morning paper
on the hair pin bend..

A false start inspired
A breakfast speed of
neck and neck
a photo finish was required..
Arthur.. he took his meds..
and gracefully retired
as a thorough bred..
I placed a bet..
on Arthur... To Win
he was no where to be seen
the entire race..
at the very last minute
he got first place..
and I won a princely sum
