“There is only one way to go.”

My mother would tell me

“There is only one way to go.”

My father said sternly.

So with only one way to go

And only one way to do,

How is there room to grow?

How is your life up to you?

I use to think that when they told me this,

That there really only was one way

But now that I am grown

And know the things I know,

I would like to go a new way.
