Poem -

Only open on Thursday's

A wind is blowing through my head
I think of rising from my bed
But the heavens open up instead
The rain comes pouring down
I smile and then I from
I dream of one horse town
With its shops all closing down

I remember climbing on the train
Saying I’d not return again
Shouting one last spat refrain
As I found myself a seat
My body felt the heat
Of a summers day complete
And thoughts I can’t repeat

Once I went to take a look
To see if they let her off the hook
They’d smashed her cranny and her nook
Her heart was torn away
I knew I couldn’t stay
To see her treated that way
My town had moved away

she was only open on a thursday
when everywhere else was closed
