Ophios

Sanguine, we tread around ourselves
Sidestepping our hearts and tying down our own hands for your rather holy miracle
Concordance flew away like an exerted sparrow
In the face of what you brought and
Bring
To this
To me
To nothing more worth naming.
Lifeless, like the skin shed off the viper.
The shimmer
Of our waters
And all their memories
Allows a glimmer to slip through
The gaps between our fingers
Before we form a fist.
Forget this remembrance.
Flay the world off your shoulders
Like a layer
Of filth
From your hands.

Wow Jaime!!.......this is VERY cool..........and VERY curious to me........I mean I know That Ophio from the greek refers to the snake..........but doesn't it also have to do with the Oceanic crust and how it sometimes rises up above sea level?..........either way this is a VERY well conceived and unbelievably well delivered piece.........this is so interesting to me that I'm going to have to read this a few times to totally "get" this write.............LOVE this my friend.........certainly has me with my thinking cap on...........well done.......Love and rockets!!...........T xo
Hey there, Tony! Thank you so much, my friend. I cannot tell you how much these words of encouragement and positivity and actual INTEREST mean to me. You are correct in both your analyses of the term "ophios", however in this particular piece I tried to use it as a means of conveying what the Assyrians admired the serpent for - its ability to shed its old skin and be reborn, as they had believed. Renewal is key. :) Thank you once again, dude. Take care and stay awesome. Peace and love, sir!
