Poem -

Our Generation Will Live

Our Generation Will Live

Has the dawn
Frowned upon
The children of the womb?
Will there be
A chance to free
Those born into a tomb?

As Hitler killed
And so distilled

Jews from their humanity
To the graves
We put our babes
Calling them "fetus" for our sanity

Still, thousands die everyday
Without shock or dismay

No right to life
No voice to speak
No chance to walk
Nor time to seek

Did God not form
Those unborn
Even before their time?
Can we not save
Them from the grave
And stop this nation's crime?

They need a voice
They want a choice
It's something we can give
Everyday
I hope and pray
Our generation will live

Thanks Susan. I wrote this five years ago when I was  fresh out of high school. Controversial--yes--but I still couldn't help myself.

I was moved by the depth of this poem, its rhythm, its meter, its content. Great capture!

Wow, thanks Glenn, it's so encouraging to hear positive feedback about my work--I've never really shared because I received a lot of negative feedback when I was young. I appeeciate it!

Abortion is such a touchy subject. And it shouldn't be. I like your message. I just wish more people felt this way. Great poem!

Thanks Jason. It is a touchy subject, and I mean no disrespect to those that have been through such a process as many have been pressured into it or didn't realize there are other options. It's not a poem to guilt people, but rather to give insight and hopefully promote change for the future.

Hello Elise,

Very powerful and unselfish concern, for all to be allowed the opportunity to be born, have already been born and those, that was deprived of life, during their birth. A poem, as well as a powerful wish, need to be some how fulfilled and the only way to solidify it's possibilities, is to be as unselfish, as you yourself has presented to be...This is your opinion and many share this same opinion and those that do not, have their reasons as well and should not be judged, instead understood and wish only for the best for all....Well written and a powerful point to be made and subject to delve into.....Congratulations for your elected win and for it, was it well deserved...

Kindest of all regards,

Jim

Wow! Thank you for this poem! .....For speaking up for millions and millions of the children killed across the world. Abortion is a horrible thing. Murder....Abortion. It is the same word, spelled differently. You really did a good job shining a light on this topic. Thank you, and may God bless you for it!     Paula
