Our Leaders

They forget about us the minute they sat on their new seats
The only thing they remembered was to count their dollars,
They had made because of us.
They forgot about the promises they uttered to us
The fancy life they promised us
The new era we visualized when they brought the idea of new start
They only remembered us,
When they needed us again to secure their seats
We forgave them because they would feed us lies
Tell us they are starting from the townships where most of us migrate too
They would promise us they will speed up the process
Give us food parcels and make us eat 7 colours
Eat with fork and knife
They would do door to door
We would shake their hands out of joy
Well they don`t come often we only see them in TV wearing suit
They would make us sing and dance with our favourite artist
Not knowing they are being paid to entertain us
So we can forget their lies
They would go back after winning and do the same
What’s so sad is when the struggle was not about them
They told us for the leaders to act
We need to burn tyres and throw petrol booms as a sign of anger
When we practice that to them
They say we are destroying progress
They never said the fire must stop
We must learn to negotiate
We still waiting for progress not lies
