Our “Prince” Was A King

Yesterday we lost our wonderful “King”, even though we called him our “Prince”;

He ruled his kingdom with the greatest aplomb, virtuoso sounds he evinced!

His great reign has lasted for forty plus years, his subjects increased every day;

For they never had heard such magnificent notes, when his music he would send to their way!

And now we all have “purple rain” in our hearts, our legend, yesterday, had to pass;

But a part of him he has left for us all, in memories that shall “forever” last!

So our dear “Prince” and our dear treasured “King”, you pledged your heart to us true;

And although you’re not here, your spirit lives on, for we’ll never forget the “Great You”!
