OUT OF SHOCK
We have seen each other before...
With a smile and hello...
That was all...
It seemed we just kept bumping into each other...
Bumping into you in the other town...
That was our very first funny...
You always helped anyone that needed a hand...
You were firm on what you could and couldn't give...
We became friends...
I always looked forward to our visits...
It was time for you to move away...
You told me that since we began talking...
Changes suddenly began happening...
I remember after one conversation your daughter came home from school...
Excited, confused, and she went up the stairs...
You began to ask her what was wrong...
You looked at me strange when I said let's step out the back door...
Shortly after I gave my reasons...
You looked at me again...
We began just laughing...
Shocked when she came out the door...
You didn't ask her more about her day...
The look your daughter gave me...
It just made us laugh even more...
The words she said next and then...
You needed a chair..
You had to sit down...
Three things changed at school...
You said...
Are you ready for another?
I said sounds good...
I was thinking of another drink of water...
After school gets out we're moving you said...
You began with your reasons...
You said you needed time with your family and...
If there could just be peace?
To be closer to your daughter's dream college was another reason why...
We said....
Goodbye...
All along I would think of you...
Did the Doctors help ease your pain?
Another loving and caring person I got to know...
I ran into your best friend yesterday...
She invited me to sit down with her...
I got up from my spot sat down across from her...
She began to tell me about your headstone...
Planning for the future?
I thought...
She said those same words again...
Once I realized you had died...
She began to cry...

Hello Sis Debs...
The last time I tried calling her was about a month ago...
I prayed that she's happy and spending time with her family...
It has been three years since she moved...
We really began knowing each other about a year, year and a half before she moved...
Last night I was told I was hated by someone...
When I think of all the people I love and those that hate me...
The numbers are still not balanced...
My scale weighs much more heavy on the good side...
People that know me...
Know that I am always checking my...
Mind, spirit and heart...
My goal is to not carry a heavy or unpeaceful heart...
I don't want to die with a heavy and hateful heart...
I have seen too many people die without warning...
Never took the opportunity to find their peace of heart...
They have a look...
A look I know I don't want on my face...
I want the look of the others...
I am ok...
We are not guaranteed two hundred years of life...

Often I hear I have so much time and life in front of me...
As if they know...
I have to believe in both sides of living and dying...
She was just a few years older than me and I feel like I am somewhere in the middle sometimes...
Then I think about reaching one hundred and a day...
I have lost so many people already...
It really puts so much in perspective for me...
I have so much love and respect for the elderly...
Most stand all alone and...
The things I didn't understand are much clearer now...
It breaks my heart when I hear...
They died because someone took their life...
Life is always...
More temporary...
Everyday...
To be young again...
With the fantasy before I knew so much about death...
That everyone lives to be old...
That was just a fantasy that I was fine living in...
