The Outsider

There are people surrounding me,
But I am ensconced in my own loneliness,
Is this all that I am destined to be,
A victim of my own psychological mess,
My sexuality seems to cause offence,
But what harm am I causing be falling in love,
I am guilty under a false pretense,
Emotions bottled, never to be spoken of,
My liberties are not given to me,
And who I am, causes undeniable hate,
All because of my different sexuality,
But what right do they have to discriminate?
If I choose to lie with a woman, why stop me?
if it is a woman I love why shouldn't feel safety in their touch,
I long to feel loves warm security,
But society restrains my feelings as such,
So I beg on my knees to the world's cruelties,
How am I different to any other?
I wish for loves freedoms and liberties,
Please let me be, let me lay with my lover,

Kristy,
Very well versed free style poem of true intimate feelings of an individual asking, (just as we all) to be accepted for who we are and not what others perceive, of us to be. A lady willing to accept who we all are and ask only in return, to be paid the same respectful homage, by all, to her claim and determination of being an individualist, at what she so passionately love to be and the best at it, which is (being herself)...You only have one life and how and to whom you allow to dictate its course of action, is strictly your decision, not theirs, live your life to the fullest and in the long run, it would have been the life, that you molded, accepted and made for yourself, which would be the one meant for the choosing from the beginning....You are strong willed and you, are you, for a reason and no one can do, nor be you better than you can.... Great Job!!!!!!!!!
Cheers,

Thank you, I originally wrote the poem for my best friend who struggled with the torments of homophobic bullies and she is now very strong minded, strong willed and just a beautiful young lady. I wrote the poem completely from her perspective and now I am sure she will very much appreciate your lovely comments!
Thanks,
Kirsty
