Poem -

Pain = Beauty

They told me pain enhances beauty
See these scars along my arm?Ā
The pain it’s always in my chest.Ā
Tell me, Am I beautiful yet?Ā

Nights spent crying aloneĀ
Drowning the voices from my head,Ā
The only way I know how
A different drink, A different pill.

Because, let’s be honest here,
How do you shut out a scream
Coming from your mind? Without,Ā
Shutting down your body too?

Society told me pain is beauty
I look in a mirror and want to cry.
I’ve been through pain, yet my beauty
Remains non-existent to the naked eye.Ā
