Panic Room

Panic Room

Too weird for The Strange;
my wings are so bulky
they don’t seem to fit

Am I just a bird in a cage
that hasn’t realised it yet?

Who designed this thing;
I don’t recall signing up
It cannot be legit

Am I the taunt of a king
that thinks I am a pet?

Surely something’s wrong;
this boredom holds
hostage my neck

Am I meant to belong
in this futile rut?

Where do I make gate;
seems to be no door,
lock, or key

Am I here to asphyxiate
my bursting blood to let?

Understood your wording and meaning and enjoyed.  Great job.

Thanks for the positive responses. It is nice to feel that the invested time and energy on a poem wasn't just a worthless blip in space, nice to know it resonated with someone. :)
