Paradise in the woods

Strolling early evening
No company with me
How glorious the sun rays glisten
Through the canvas in the tree

This country walk is paradise
Tranquility devine
If I chance upon a woodpecker
This pleasure is all mine

Regularly I hear this busy bird
I admire him high above
His echoey knocking can be heard
He fills my heart with love

Imagine his life in this wood
How fortunate he must be
I’d reincarnate as him If I could
His freedom appeals to me

So peacefully serene
A vast variety of trees
Only the rustling of falling leaves
An occasional buzz of bees
