Part of Me

When you first opened your  perfect eyes, a reflection shone to me,

You were totally brand new to this world, yet a familiarity I could see, 

Your tiny head half tilted,  as though you thought the same,

I quickly then decided that at last I knew your name.

We discovered so much together, about life and of course about love,

Theres times I didn't know what I was doing, yet always thanked the Lord above.

A true blessing you are indeed to me and a reminder of Gods good grace,

I'll always remember to be grateful when I dote upon your face.

I've watched you grow with amazement of how so astonishing you can be,

Unconsciously I always wonder, is she really part of me?

So beautiful and thoughtful, you always listen to advice.

Your cuddles to me are a tonic, your smile could melt through ice.

You've still got much more growing, you've yet to fully bloom.

Just please don't do it quickly, don't grow up far too soon.
