PART OF MY YOUTH

PART OF MY YOUTH

Part of my youth was climbing trees
Ripping my trousers and scraping my knees
Part of my youth was kicking a ball
On a playing field or against a garden wall

Part of my youth was being cheeky to mum and dad
Pulling my sister's hair and making her mad
Part of my youth was drinking till the early hours
Thinking this would give me strength and super powers

As I sit and reflect on my favourite chair
I smile knowing that part of my youth will always be there
