Pebble and Shell

To my wife (that we may keep saving one another)

Pebble and Shell

Now, just in time,
it is time touching us.

In this moment
you are the sea,
I am the brook.
In our meeting
we become us.

In this minute you are the wind,
building the waves I am
and in our meeting
we are motion.

In this hour you are the beach,
where my waves end their quest:
we become a dance
of pebble and shell.

In this day
we are that line
where sea and land are one,
blended being,

breathing air from beyond our lives,
drinking waters from the depths,
a heartbeat everlasting,

one dance,
one world,

you are the wind
taking up my waters,
rising sunheated,
to bring rain to the land.

One world,
one dance...
