I'd often wondered why this life had been so cruel !

My soul meandered down a road not of its choosing.

I would challenge fate to the no-holds-barred duel !

On this occasion there could be no chance of losing !

I stacked odds in my favour by always being positive.

There was to be the adoption of a winning attitude !

I would do all necessary to succeed, not just survive.

This was a contest which would end a running feud !

On the big day it all went as I meticulously planned.

Fate had no option but to admit humiliating defeat !

I realized in my possession was an unbeatable hand !

At last, the future was there for this victor to greet !
