Pestering Creatures

Pestering Creatures

I know pestering creatures.

I see them,

All scrawny and worn.

With their bloodshot eyes,

They see me.

They look through my soul,

Taking what they can of my youth.

They are what makes me who I am.

Nesting into my head,

they find it easy living.

Feeding off maudlin thoughts,

These pesters know how to make life unbearable.

I am lament.

With these pesters,

I could have a new profession.

With an apelike run,

They scurry inside.

They make sure I get my daily dose of depression.

With all my potpourri of memories,

They seek only the darkest.

Only the ones that make me die inside.

Into the darkness they go,

They live forever endeavor.

They scare me.

They hunt me down.

They haunt me.

They never leave me alone.

I know pestering creatures,

I see them,

all scrawny and warn.

They feed on my maudlin thoughts.

They remind me of only my lament self.

I know pestering creatures.

They kill the weak like me.
