Phoenix

Even though I have had my fingers burnt

There is so much that I have learnt

My dreams thus far have turned to dust

But in the future I still place undying trust

Wounded pride I have sought to soothe

As I have taken the rough with the smooth

From today I pledge to start from scratch

From the lows of defeat, victory will I snatch !

I know, up to now, life hasn't been kind to me 

But a phoenix from the ashes I shall one day be !
