PICKLING DIXIE

PICKLING DIXIE

The Charlemagne House with the mad magnolia and the Spanish moss
got struck by a meteorite and tossed gumbo in metaphors
emblazoned with awful wailing and a curious dirge.
I told those folks to quit seeing with their navels
but i was chased out of town with my blue hat
and the crows followed me till Wednesday.
Ā
i came upon a church in the thicket of a scorched farm
fuming with holy water from a fresh well
somehow working.
Ā
i ate a moonpie and slept in my carĀ
like an athlete of slumber
between worlds that collideĀ
with parked cars.
